Starkey - August 2008

This past Saturday saw some of the best new Dubstep, Grime and Hip Hop talent descend on the BBC’s venerable Maida Vale studios for the recording of Generation Bass, a new music special for Radio 1’s Mary Anne Hobbs show. The sequel to 2006’s Dubstep Warz show that broke the likes of Skream, Benga and Mala to a global audience, this year saw an insanely strong line up get together to record their mini-sets sequentially, with Fabric Publishing’s Starkey the sole non-UK guest. The show will broadcast this Tuesday night (19th August) and will be available on the BBC’s MAH show site for a week from that date onwards. The entire special acts as a fantastic showcase for emerging talent with (call us biased) Starkey’s turn the highlight, acting as an amazing quick fire preview of his debut album. More news of which soon...

Minilogue - August 2008

A recent addition to the gang, our partnership with Minilogue has got off to a flying start with new album ‘Animals’ highlight ‘Hitchhikers Choice’ becoming the new Brand Theme for Carphone Warehouse for the next 12 months. An evolution of Minilogue’s widely acclaimed (not to mention seen – 3,000,000 YouTube hits and counting) video collaboration with Swedish animator Kristopher Storm, you can check the advert here and also see the original version here. In other Minilogue news, first album single ‘Jamaica’ has recently lodged it’s self at the top of the Beatport chart and shows little inclination to move on. Both discs of the double album plus various 12” only tracks can be heard in our ever swelling music section.

Wolfgang Gartner - July 2008

Having recently had his cover blown by the good folk at Beatport we figured it was about time to shine the spotlight on an artist that was discreetly added to these pages a few weeks back. As some of you are probably already aware, Wolfgang Gartner is in fact the latest alias of Southern state House don Joey Youngman. Never afraid of an alias or ten, Joey’s latest incarnation has proved a runaway success with the big room crowd so far, snagging a Pete Tong ‘Essential New Tune of the Week’ accolade, a seemingly endless stream of top 10 Beatport releases and even comparisons to current stadium techno coming man Deadmau5. Crossover anthems in waiting can be found over in our music section...

Shlomi Aber / Be As One - July 2008

With last years debut album (Renaissance’s first ever Artist album incidentally) still attracting plenty of new admirers it’d be easy to overlook Mr. Aber’s own Tel Aviv based imprint, Be As One... or at least it would be if said labels output wasn’t relentlessly from the top drawer. Upfront releases from the man himself, including the Hot Chip championed (?!) ‘In Theory Yes’ have shared the spotlight with emerging Israeli artists including Gel Abril and Itamar Sagi. We’ll be adding audio in the next couple of weeks so keep an ear out...

Fabric Publishing Festival Roundup - July 2008

As you may have noticed we’re deep in festival season (in the UK at least) and once again Fabric Publishing artists are popping up on bills across the country. This weekend sees both the Lovebox Weekender in London’s Victoria Park and Glade Festival (somewhere just north of London if we remember right..) fling open their gates.

Lovebox Festival (London) – Saturday 19th July; Guillaume & The Coutu Dumonts
Sunday 20th July; Buraka Som Sistema (Live)

Glade Festival – Saturday 19th July; Billy Nasty, Claude VonStroke, Mr. No Hands
Sunday 20th July; Tayo, Caspa & Rusko

Scuba – July 2008

About this time last year Paul Rose aka Scuba joined our merry band of noise vandals, shortly after leaving our jaws somewhere round our ankles with his wildly variaed but defiantly left field take on Dubstep. Fast forward 12 months and the Hotflush Recordings head has witnessed the unstoppable growth of his label, relocated to Berlin and most pertinently, dropped a debut album ‘A Mutual Antipathy’ to cross-scene praise. We’ve recently agreed to represent the album as part of our deal with Paul and will be adding audio shortly. Watch out for a remix from another highly touted Fabric Publishing artist too..

Djinxx – June 2008

Head of France’s highly regarded Mezzotinto label, and fresh from his appearance on M.A.N.D.Y.’s Fabric mix, Djinxx has just been added to the Fabric Publishing stable in time for his first release on John Digweed’s Bedrock imprint. The ‘Incarnation’ 12” has been generating a very big buzz indeed, with Lord Digweed himself hammering the track at every available opportunity. You can hear the original and various mixes in our Music section now, along with the M.A>N.D.Y. loved ‘Spanish Kebab’ and it’s flipside ‘Parasol’.

Minilogue – June 2008

Back in the spring of 2007 we were lucky enough to hear Minilogue’s Wagon Repair 12”, ‘Elephants Parade’ and were hooked more or less instantly - one trip to live show later and we were even more determined to get the guys on board, one way or another.. With the release of the debut (double) album ‘Animals’ on Cocoon we’re delighted to announce that the Swedish duo have signed with Fabric Publishing. Sound clips for both discs of the album now reside in the audio section of this site and illustrate the extent of the pair’s talent, disc 1 providing club friendly techno and house influenced sounds while the second part of the album takes inspiration from the Ambient like’s of Brian Eno, Harold Budd, Aphex Twin and Boards Of Canada. Very highly recommended indeed.

Leon Segka – June 2008

Greek Techno pioneer and boss of N-Trop Records, Leon recently released his Monsanto EP to acclaim from the likes of Loco Dice, Ricardo Villalobos and Craig Richards. We’ve just added audio to the website, with the title track in particular being a fantastic late night/early morning floor filler, and will be adding some excellent remixes very soon too.

DZI – June 2008

We’ve recently signed Tech House ambassador Luke Dzierzek’s (who’s track ‘Echoes’ you may recall from last years Citroen dancing robot car ad) new DZI project. Debut 12” ‘Unleash’ bw ‘The Beast’ blew us away on first listen and is currently terrorizing discerning dance floors across Europe. Click clack below for full audio streams..

Fabric Publishing Event II – June 2008

A very big Thank You to everyone who made it down for our second Fabric Publishing Showcase. Needless to say we had a great time seeing a whole bbunch of new faces and plenty of familiar ones too. Hope you all enjoyed yourselves as much as we did and look forward to seeing you all soon. Special thanks to Radioactive Man, Claude VonStroke and Caspa & Rusko who all played fantastic sets of their own material on the night!

Keith Tenniswood – June 2008

Following on from last week’s free Starkey Remix of ‘State Of That’, full streaming audio has now been added for the entire ‘Growl’ album (recently released to widespread critical acclaim), a host of previously unheard remixes, and various Two Lone Swordsmen related tracks from the last few years (including the Andrew Weatherall solo track ‘Feathers’, currently all over a certain Volkswagen TV spot). The link below should help you get up to speed with the Tennniswood resume..

Starkey - June 2008

Any of you with a half decent memory might remember us ranting and raving about Philadelphia Producer/DJ Starkey towards the end of last year. Fresh from turning in a promo only remix for Radioactive Man’s ‘State Of That’ track (DL here – trust us, you won’t regret it) and having his currently unreleased ‘Gutter Music’ get it’s UK radio debut thanks to Mary-Ann Hobbes (sorry, you’ll have to wait for that one..), our boy turned up in London and proceeded to turn Room 3 of our club into a frothing sea sub-low fiends. Hold tight for that new material, and in the meantime grab that remix as fast as you can..

Cotti – June 2008

A rising star of the Dubstep scene and responsible for cross genre anthem in waiting ‘Calm Down’, we’re more than happy to confirm that we’ll be working with Cotti and his material. Anyone who’s heard ‘Calm Down’ or ‘The Legacy’ with Cluekid knows the Brixton boy is one of the most versatile producers out there, but wait til you hear what’s coming next..

King Cannibal – May 2008

Warp Records alumni Zilla has been pushing a new strain of digital dancehall mania for a while now, lapped up by the likes of Erol Alkan and Mary Anne Hobbs to name but a few. Last month saw his King Cannibal alias sign to Ninja Tune for an upcoming album project after extensive patronage from label bedrocks DJ Food and Amon Tobin. If you’re after dark atmospheric production that pays no heed to genre straitjacketing or scene orthodoxy we suggest you get up to speed with the self proclaimed King of the Dancehall double quick...

Sebastian San – May 2008

Sebastian grew up in France a fan of early electronic music such as Kraftwerk and Giorgio Moroder. His debut album "Duel" on Gigolo Records marked arrived early in 2007 with the track "Wuxia" particularly well received. 2008 has seen the ‘Rising Sun’ 12” released on Planet-E, featuring the original track alongside one of label boss Carl Craig’s trademark remixes, and has already been hammered by the likes of Luciano and C2 himself..

Keith Tenniswood – May 2008

We’re extremely chuffed to have signed an exclusive deal with Keith Tenniswood formerly one half of Two Lone Swordsmen (with Andrew Weatherall). Our deal will cover the last few years of 2LS material (including “Feathers”, as featured on the latest VW Tiago advert) and Keith’s new Radioactive Man album “Growl”, released on Control Tower Records through Fabric Records’ records operation within the next week.

Guillaume & The Coutu Dumonts – May 2008

Montreal ex-pat and a pillar of the Mutek affiliated scene out there, Guillaume is fresh from releasing his debut album ‘Face a l’est’ on Akufen’s Musique Risque label (which might just be the best house album we’ve heard in the last 12 months). A classically trained percussionist with a background in African field recording his fantastically musical productions have picked up DJ support from the likes of Luciano, Four Tet and Tobi Neumann. Definitely one to check out!

Click here to view Guillaume & The Coutu Dumonts' Tracks

Serge Santiago – May 2008

Proof that good things come to those who wait, we’ve finally managed to persuade Serge to sign his considerable and versatile catalogue to Fabric Publishing including the wonderful Italo influenced “Atto D’Amore”. Equally influenced by Italo and Sunday afternoon minimal sessions, and a prolific remixer (check out his rework of Hercules & Love Affair’s Blind on the Simian Mobile Disco upcoming FabricLive CD) we’re very happy to have got him in the end!

Martyn – May 2008

When he’s not guesting on Skream’s radio show, blowing away genre convention at FWD or collaborating with the likes of Marcus Intalex, our hyperactive Dutchman has been busy setting up his own label, 3024 for both his own and others productions. We’ll be adding releases as they come and have started off with the labels first 2 12”s, both by the man himself.

Dub Police Radio1 Takeover – May 2008

Next Tuesday (May 20th to be precise) sees Fabric Publishing artist Caspa guide his Dub Police clan into the driving seat of Mary-Ann Hobbes Radio1 show. Alongside the label head himself will be two of our most recent signings, Orien and The Others, as well as newcomer Unitz and Dub Police’s MC of choice Roddy Azlan. Things kick off at 2am but to get in the mood we’d suggest a full exploration of The Others discography (audio link below) followed by an airing for Caspa’s latest tracks (‘Lions Raw’ and his remix of Rusko’s ‘Cockney Thug’ are currently annoying the office upstairs).

New Audio – May 2008

Not to put too fine a point on it, but 2008 is shaping up to be both the biggest and best year in Fabric Publishing’s young life. We’ve got a whole raft of announcements and signings on the way over the next few weeks, but before we get started with those we’ve already upped a huge amount of brand new audio. Check out a stack of new tracks from Rusko for a starter below..

Click here to view Rusko's Tracks

Lucio Aquilina – April 2008

After building an enormous buzz with his Cocoon debut ‘Magic M’ throughout last year (and having it’s B-Side ‘My Cube’ pop up on M.A.N.D.Y.’s Fabric mix) we’re very happy to be representing the rising Italian producers above material. Name checked by a huge range of DJ’s and set for a very prolific 2008 we’re already looking forward to his new tracks...

Click here to view Lucio Aquilina's Tracks

Maelstrom – April 2008

And now for something completely different... Glasgow’s Maelstrom treads a similar path to the likes of Todd Terje, Lindstrom and Rub-n-Tug. With a shed load of unofficial re-edits under his belt he’s recently begun work on original material, under a variety of aliases. His work as Maelstrom is the first to see release on the N.E.W.S. affiliated Eskimo with a 12” release for his ‘Petrichor’ track due in spring and (unsurprisingly) comes highly recommended. A mid-paced psychedelic disco epic with a distinct Asian influence this should find a audience both appreciative and large over summer. Some big name remixes are also on the way – update on those soon...

Click here to view Maelstrom's Tracks

The Others & Orien – April 2008

Protégés of DubPolice Emperor Caspa, both acts debuted on the aforementioned and Rusko’s FabricLive mix last year. The Others sound takes the darker material of their label boss such as Well ‘Ard and goes down from there. Standout’s include the Caspa collaboration ‘Africa VIP’ (from FabricLive 37) and ‘Kind Of Blue’, a fantastic showcase for the guys more subtle side.
Orien’s sound is noticeable for a heavy tech-step influence, bearing the mark of Virus recordings and early Square Pusher in his combination of heaving bass and drill bit synths. Again featuring on FabricLive 37 with the uncharacteristically restrained ‘Rainbow Teardrops’, check for ‘Look Into My Eyes’ for a taste of just how out there Dubstep can be pushed..

Beatport Awards 2008 – March 2008

Voting opened 18th March but there’s still plenty of time to get your nominations in for Beatport’s inaugural awards ceremony. There’s a whole host of category’s for the various genres and scenes the digital behemoth covers but we’ll be concentrating on the Fabric Publishing contingents chances here.

Best Minimal Artist see’s Shlomi Aber up against a host of Europe’s finest while AudioFly X and Claude VonStroke square up in the Best Tech House category and finally Gregor Tresher pops up in Best Techno Artist. Far be it for us to try and influence the results, but voting is open until the 22nd April. Just so you know...

Worthy - March 2008

Some of the more diligent Dirtybird watchers among you may recall a 12” emblazoned with the legend ‘Irst_te?’ appearing in discerning vinyl stockists during the second half of 2007. That was San Francisco’s Worthy making his debut for the label, with a thoroughly acidic banger and one of Claude VonStroke’s more understated remixes on the flip. Alongside his Dirtybird work (and additional releases on West Coast institution Utensil and the UK’s LeftRoom) Worthy’s been hard at work developing his own label, Katabatic as an additional home for his own productions with likes of ‘Bass Quake’ and ‘Mummer’ picking up support from Sven Vath and Ben Watt. All the above tracks are up on our Audio page as of now, with more on the way soon (‘Bass Quake’ comes particularly recommended).

Buraka Som Sistema – March 2008

Having finally managed to break out of the studio Buraka Som Sistema are on their way back to London for a half-week of rabble-rousing across the capital. Things kick off on March 19th at Hoxton Bar & Kitchen with a full live set at the intimate East London venue/infamous A&R haunt before heading over to Notting Hill Art Clubs YoYo for a DJ and MC set the following night. Room 1 at Fabric marks the final destination on the tour and if it’s anything like the last visit you really don’t want to miss it. As an appetizer, check out the video for the new single, ‘Sound Of Kudoru’ featuring M.I.A., Angolan legend DJ Znobia and a host of Kudoru MC’s. Shot while recording material for their album in Angola this is the perfect catch-up for any of you not up to speed yet.

Scratch Perverts - February 2008

Just a quick announcement to say that Scratch Perverts ‘Stand By’ will once again be sound tracking Lucozade’s spring and summer TV campaign this year. The track originally featured on Lucozade’s Summer 2006/World Cup TV campaign to widespread acclaim and we fully expect it to be caked all over prime time TV by the time you read this...

Gingy - February 2008

It’s great to finally be able to confirm the addition of Toronto’s Gingy to our ever expanding stable of noise urchins. Currently prepping his debut release on his homegrown More Proof collective, Gingy purveys an ultra distorted electro sound that crams more ideas into individual tracks then most people manage in an entire album.

With DJ support from the likes of MSTRKRFT we suspect you’ll be hearing a whole load more from Gingy this year... Get yourselves over to the music page to hear both ‘Rios For MVP’s scorched earth assault and the uptempo synth riffing of ‘Swagger’

Tayo - February 2008

Just a quick note that in between concocting one of 2008’s hottest tracks (Style & Trend’s searing future ragga with Baobinga and Spyda, out now on Soul Jazz) and maintaining an intercontinental DJ schedule (Drop The Lime’s bleeding edge Trouble & Bass night plays host to him this Friday in New York) sub-low pioneer Tayo has managed to get himself nominated for Breakspoll 2008’s Best DJ award. Nice to see the panel recognize some of the more.. open minded DJ’s in their scene.

Rusko & Caspa - February 2008

Safe to say that since December’s FabricLive CD, Caspa and Rusko have been busy, busy boys. Rusko’s most recent port of call was Ras Kwame’s Radio 1 show. Backed up by MC Rod Azlan, he contributed a half hour guest mix of current scene anthems and plentiful exclusives. Something of a stranger to the concept of writers block, the Leedsman packed his set with a stack of new and unreleased dubplates from his personal collection as well as some choice new tracks from frequent partner in crime Caspa. Full audio and track list can be found here

Claude VonStroke - January 2008

It’s an uncomfortable truth that the majority of electronic music (and especially dance music) video’s tend to slip into the sort of knuckle dragging cliché’s and lowest common denominator meat parades that would embarrass the average Nuts reader. All very well if you happen to be the proprietor of a town centre alchopop bar, but rather dispiriting for anyone clinging to the notion that music video’s can be anything othere than hastily edited commercials.
Fortunately our man in San Fran has swooped down with a new clip for his hometown anthem ‘Who’s Afraid Of Detroit’, and to say we’re blown away would be something of an understatement. If Detroit’s tourist board haven’t already pressed this into service then they should. Maybe.

Buraka Som Sistema – January 2008

As antidote’s to Januarys month of murk go you could do a lot worse than get familiar with Buraka Som Sistema’s post-Kudoru juggernaut of a single ‘Yah!’, ideally at a volume approaching ‘pet slaying’. And it turns out FACT Magazine agree with us! In their 2007 year end issue ‘Yah!’ scoops the prize for ‘Best Twelve Inch Of The Year’ for Modular Record’s summer UK release of the track. Besides it’s ‘lurching, urgent, exotic bass-bin popping energy’, the Lisbon based crew have ‘..used technology and a truly global attitude to music making to bring themselves worldwide recognition in an incredibly short space of time’. Outside of the vinyl realm FACT love continues in their ‘Top 100 Tracks of 2007’ with Yah! sneaking in at #13. Besides inducing a frothing mania in journalists, the guys are also putting the finishing touches to a debut album that should arrive just in time for summer. Trust us when we say the wait will be more than worth it..

Happy Christmas & New Year!!

Just a quick note to wish you all a marvelous Xmas and New Year. This has been a fantastic year for us all here and set us up for a very exciting 2008 indeed. We’re particularly proud of our inaugural Fabric Publishing Showcase back in June. Sit tight for details on 2008’s bash, coming along soon..

Walter Meego – December 2007

We’re extremely chuffed to announce that US Electro outfit Walter Meego as Fabric Publishing’s first ever exclusive signings. Anyone who caught their show at the club earlier in the year will know the guys have a fantastic set of material on the way, and we’re unspeakably excited to be working with the group for their debut album on Sony’s Almost Gold label (due for release in the first half of 2008). We’ll have more news and some audio along in the new year but for now trust us when we say this lot will be huuuge in 2008..

Gregor Tresher – November 2007

Another Producer who came to our attention via 2006’s Cocoon F compilation (with the huge electro anthem ‘Full Range Madness’), Gregor recently made his live debut in Room 2 blowing away pretty much everyone who managed to catch his set of techno influenced electro. Currently basking in the attention lavished on his debut artist album ‘A Thousand Nights’, we’ll be working with a selection of tracks from both the album and single releases. Audio has just been put up now, and we suggest you go straight to ‘Full Range Madness’ for a taste of the Tresher sound…

Click here to view Gregor Tresher's Tracks

FabricLive 37: Caspa & Rusko – November 2007

Just a quick update to say that the next installment in the FabricLive series arrives in stores on 10th December and will showcase the selecting talents of Fabric Publishing artists Caspa and Rusko. A 70 minute primer to the next wave of Dub Step talent, the mix showcases a stack of new tracks from both artists including a couple of exclusive heavyweight collaborations. Fellow Fabric Publishing signings Buraka Som Sistema’s pounding remix of Rusko’s ‘Cockney Thug’ anthem is an undoubted highlight, while new Caspa white labels The Terminator and Well ‘Ard see the Dub Police Don ramping up the intensity of his already ferocious productions. The boys will be celebrating the release with a back to back set at the club on December 28th, with fellow Dubstep Illuminati Hatcha, Benga and N-Type.

Style Of Eye – November 2007

Swedish House Producer Linus Eklow has been behind a steady stream of releases on the consistently raved over Tiny Sticks label. The last few years (taking in mix CD appearances with Claude VonStroke and our own Wiggle release) have seen the Stockholm natives profile skyrocket and 2008 looks set to be his biggest year yet. January will see the release of a Style Of Eye curated Om Records mix album, followed up by a one off single on Claude VonStroke’s mighty Dirtybird imprint. And then there’s the small matter of the debut Style Of Eye artist album currently scheduled for the first half of the year which from the early tracks we’ve been privy to, will be Immense. A selection of tracks are now up on the site, including the standouts H-Bomb and Hydroponic.

Starkey – October 2007

Part of the local tradition of dance floor slaying DJ’s turned producers Philadelphia’s Starkey has spent the last 18 months sneaking out a stream of 12”s blending Grime, Dub Step and Hip Hop influences and championed worldwide by the likes of Drop The Lime and Mary Ann Hobbes. The recently released Bounce/Prism 12” has been flying out of stores like Phonica, Black Market and Soul Jazz / Sounds Of The Universe and attracting a whole lot of extra attention. We’ve just added a selection of tracks to the audio page but suggest you check out the Starkey helmed podcast for Xlr8r Magazine here. A truly riotous DJ (ask The Old Blue Last sound system) this is a great showcase of some up and coming Starkey bangers that includes appearances by Fabric Publishing alumni Rusko and Caspa, as well as the cream of the current worldwide Bass community.

Claude VonStroke – T-Mobile – October 2007

The eagle eyed (eared?) among you may already be up on this, but we can now confirm that Claude VonStroke’s anti-anthem ‘The Whistler’ has been chosen to soundtrack the next 6 months of T-Mobile’s TV and Cinema ad campaign. The track will also be getting a major label re-release and promotional push in the new year as San Fran’s eminent tech funk guru prepares to release his sophomore album. Expect new material very soon indeed...

Shlomi Aber – October 2007

We’re very pleased to announce Shlomi Aber as the latest addition to the Fabric Publishing stable. From last years Cocoon released breakthrough “Sea Of Sand” to his current big buzz track “Blonda”, Shlomi is very much on the rise right now picking up vocal support from the likes of Carl Craig to Tiefschwarz and Jon Digweed. This month sees the release of his debut album, ‘State Of No-One’ - the first full length artist album on the venerable Renaissance label emphasizes Shlomi’s all encompassing approach to production that sees him add downtempo stylings and regional influences to his already enormous range. We’ve just added a handful of Shlomi’s tracks to the audio section, all of which come highly recommended.

Plasmik – October 2007

The latest addition(s) to our rapidly growing gang of artists is Germany’s Plasmik. Roman and Marcel Fritz are Berlin domiciled brothers who’s monumental sounding techno has immediately become the choice of clued up DJ’s throughout Europe. The Crosstown Rebels released ‘Pearls On A String’ had anthem status bestowed on it, seemingly within the space of a few weekends earlier this year. With some exceptionally high profile (but currently rather secret) releases on the horizon for the end of 2007 and start of 2008 we’re looking forward to Plasmik getting the sort of wider acclaim they deserve. ‘Pearls On A String’, ‘Pitch It’ and several other highlights are now available for listening in our audio section.

Rusko – BBC Radio – October 2007

We’re rather pleased to announce that fresh off the back of a short European tour Leeds low end warrior Rusko has sufficiently impressed BBC Radio 1's Mary Anne Hobbs for her to invite him to play an exclusive 25 minute set on her habitually groundbreaking Breezeblock Radio show. Broadcasting at the end of October, we’re expecting a rather fine half hour to come of this….

Martyn – October 2007

Taking his starting point as Drum-n-Bass (his track ‘Nxt 2 U’ was one of the stand outs from High Contrast’s FabricLive CD) Holland’s Martyn Deijkers has attracted rave reviews and DJ support this year with his unique fusion of Jungle, Detroit techno and Dubstep. Despite it’s resistance to pigeonholing, latest single ‘Broken’ on Marcus Intalex’s Revolve:r imprint has just dropped to rave reviews and widespread DJ support. Audio (including ‘Broken’) has just been upped to the site for your sampling pleasure.

Dubstep Takeover V – Rusko – September 2007

The last of our Dubstep signings we’d like to announce is rapidly rising scene star Rusko. One of the biggest up and coming names in the UK electronic scene, 2007 has already witnessed a brace of releases that have been the toast of DJ’s throughout the UK urban scene, culminating in the just dropped crossover anthem ‘Cockney Thug’.
With an equal talent for effortlessly atmospheric future-dub as well as paint stripping bassline assaults we’re expecting big things from the Leeds ex-pat with the perma-bassface. You can hear exclusive audio of ‘Cockney Thug’ and a stack of other tracks in our audio section.

Click here to view Rusko's Tracks

Fifa Street Sound Track – September 2007

Continuing their steady march into the spotlight Buraka Som Sistema’s festival anthem ‘Yah!’ has made it on to the soundtrack for the next installment of Electronic Arts Fifa Street series. With sales for the series approaching the 8 figure mark this is obviously a great bit of exposure for the group, coming on the back of a Bestival set that’s still being talked about as one of the highlights of the weekend.

Dubstep Takeover IV – Caspa – September 2007

In between orchestrating the meteoric rise of the Storming Productions empire (that includes heavyweight Dubstep imprints Dub Police and Sub Soldiers) and hosting one of Rinse FM’s biggest new shows (Quiet Storm) Caspa’s somehow found the time to fire off a string of enormous dubs. Last year’s ‘Cockney Violin’ debuted the Caspa sound and his trademark sound of huge drums and well deep bass, while this year saw the Sub Soldiers label kick things off with the ‘Ave It Volume I double pack. Along with the fantastic 2 step revivalism of ‘Velvet Rooms’, the undoubted highlight of the EP was the collaboration with fellow rising star Rusko ‘Custard Chucker’. You can hear the above tunes and selection of other tracks in the audio section of our website as of now. For anyone keen on more info, both Caspa and Rusko are profiled in the latest issue of Dummy magazine. Great to see the press starting to pick up on the new wave of Dubstep talent out there…

Fabric Publishing Festival Roundup – September 2007

This weeks featured Dubstep Producer is the multi talented Reso. To categorise Reso as simply Dubstep is more than a little unfair though – put simply Reso loves Bass, and lots of it. With a production style that takes cues from the low end dominated Breaks of Zed Bias and Tipper and the visceral impact of early Ram Records Drum & Bass his specialty is high impact, up-tempo tracks shot through with snarling but instantly memorable bass lines. We've just added audio this week, and particularly recommend 'Metal Slug' and 'Onslaught'.

Claude VonStroke – At The Controls – August 2007

Dirtybird Mullah Claude Vonstroke will be releasing his debut mix CD, the 2 disc ‘At The Controls’ on Resist Music on 11th September. Straddling both the scuzzy tech funk Dirtybird is renowned for and deeper than deep techno ‘At The Controls’ serves as an introduction to new sub-label Mothership and the pick of current techno.
A full tracklisting can be found here:
http://www.residentadvisor.net/news.aspx?id=8784

Dubstep Takeover III – Reso – August 2007

For any of you who’ve resisted the lure of festival season so far the upcoming Bestival weekender on the Isle of Wight might just be the one to make you crack. Along with a selection of big name headliners (think Chemical Brothers, Beastie Boys and Primal Scream), Fabric Publishing’s own Tayo and Buraka Som Sistema will be playing the weekend. Tayo is currently on fire as anyone who saw his set following the M.I.A. show last month can attest, while the BSS live show is rapidly becoming the word of mouth hit of summer. Highly recommended!

Fabric Publishing Festival Roundup – August 2007

For anyone planning a trip to annual Scouse knees up Creamfields this year, we're very pleased to announce that Claude Vonstroke will be making one of his rare UK appearances on the Chibuku & Annie Mac Presents stage, while the Scratch Perverts will once again be using their Beatdown tent to showcase only the finest current Hip Hop and Drum & Bass. And if you're not lucky enough to be in the vicinity of Warrington at the end of this month Mr. Vonstroke will be charging across the country as soon as he's finished his Creamfields set wreak acid and bass carnage on Room 1 of our very own establishment. Plenty more Dirtybird news to come…

Dubstep Takeover II – Emalkay - July 2007

Next up in our series of Dubstep profiles is Emalkay. With a series of releases on his own label Boka Records throughout the last year, the Birmingham native comes at Dubstep from an angle that reflects his distance from the tightly packed London scene. Mixing up unexpected melodic touches with huge slabs of sub-bass there's a musical depth that feels like a new level for the scene as a whole, reaching it's peak with the amazing Bats In The Belfry.

Dubstep Takeover I - Scuba - July 2007

As one of the most exciting and innovative scenes to emerge in recent years, we're very pleased indeed to announce a bumper crop of recent Dubstep signings. With 2007 seeing an ever greater level of media interest in the music and clubs like FWD and DMZ packed out week in week out, the scene is now firmly established on the UK's musical map and looks set to grow yet bigger with the latest wave of Producers and DJ's already adding new styles and sounds to the present mix.

We'll be introducing a new Producer every week for the next month. First up is Scuba, fresh from his double appearance on Soul Jazz's Box Of Dub compilation. In between building North London's seminal Hotflush Recordings for the last 4 years (whose releases have included tracks by scene stalwarts Distance, Shackleton and Benga) there's been a steady stream of 12”s that take Dubstep conventions as a starting point for some unchecked genre splicing. With tracks ranging from the rabbit boxing skank-Metal of Frisco to the unashamedly delicate Dreams and the murky post-Dub of Harpoon there's a musicality to Scuba's material that sets him leagues apart from the herd mentality of so many emergent genres.

Box Of Dub - July 2007

Soul Jazz recently released their 'Box Of Dub' compilation on an unsuspecting public, joining the doubts between Dub, Breaks and the burgeoning Dubstep scene and featuring the work of one of our most recent signings, Tayo with his collaboration with Acid Rockers 'Dread Cowboy'. The comp has notched up glowing reviews from across the music press spectrum, and looks set to add to the increasing attention being lavished on the Dubstep scene. Also appearing with 2 tracks is new artist Scuba who you can expect to her more about shortly...

Fabric Publishing Festival Roundup - July 2007

Lovebox

More festival related news for you all – Fabric Publishing artists will be out and about for (a no doubt extremely muddy) Lovebox weekend. Scratch Perverts will be taking charge of the Strangelove stage from 16:30 until 18:00 on Saturday, while Buraka Som Sistema will be in action on the Diplo curated El Barrio stage from 17:00 to 18:00. Once again, we'd advise wellies…

Tayo Wins 'Best British Compilation Award' - July 2007

Tayo

Major congratulations to Fabric Publishing artist, DJ legend, and all round bass evangelist Tayo who's just collected DJ magazine's Best British Compilation 2007 award for his FabricLive 32 CD. Since it's release back in February the mix has been showered with praise, with particular attention lavished on his own productions, all of which can be checked out on the audio page of this site.

Buraka Som Sistema At Glastonbury – June 2007

Glastonbury

A quick heads up for anyone Pilton bound this weekend – Buraka Som Sistema will be blowing the mud off the assembled on the Glade stage at 21:30 this Friday night, and after their last performance we'd recommend ditching the wellies. Manic Kuduro dancing and waders aren't the best of combinations…

Thank You! – June 2007

Just a quick note to say thanks (and hello) to everyone who made it down to our inaugural Fabric Publishing Showcase recently. It was great to finally get a chance to meet everyone and we hope you enjoyed yourselves just as much as we did (hint: a Lot).

Tayo - June 2007

Tayo

After the across the board praise for his Fabriclive mix CD and the continuing success of his regular Cool & Deadly parties now seems a great time to confirm our signing of Tayo as a Fabric publishing artist. Though associated with the Breaks scene from its very beginning Tayo's own productions and DJ sets have always embraced a wide range of influences, but all with a serious amount of bass in common. A long awaited debut album is currently in the works but a preview of new material can be heard on our audio player now.

Buraka Som Sistema - May 2007

When Buraka Som Sistema played here at the beginning of the month the FABRICLIVE crowd had no idea what'd hit 'em. Undoubtedly a contender for one of the best performances to ever grace our disco, the group showed with remarkable ease how they've managed to take over Portugal as a national phenomenon. The new BSS video debuted exclusively on MTV Portugal for their single Wawaba from the "From Buraka to the World" CD. You can watch the brilliant video, directed by Pedro Claudio, here, along with some special pictures of said performance. Oh, and speaking of pictures, enjoy the photographic tour diary they've put together for us - courtesy of Catarina Pereira from Radio Fazuma - from their first trip to London.

Art Bleek - May 2007

Art Bleek

While we have access to a huge range of dance music at Fabric Publishing our aim has always been to work with good music, rather than any specific genres or scenes. So we're particularly pleased to announce Art Bleek's debut album 'Between Yesterday & Tomorrow' as the first fruits of our new partnership with Jesse Rose's Loungin' label. With a background in Jazz and Classical, Art's unmistakeably organic take on downtempo and hip hop is utterly distinctive and makes for an incredibly atmospheric and cohesive long player.

Ali B & Air Recordings - May 2007

Ali B

Ali B and Fabric go way back. How far back? Think 'offered a residency straight after playing the pre-launch press party' levels of far back. In between regularly blowing away fabriclive crowds with a mix of cutting edge breaks, forgotten hip hop classics and 60's funk gems, Ali found the time to establish his own label, Air Recordings and promote a series of forward thinking new artists, as well as his own productions.

So it goes without saying that we're extremely chuffed to announce that Fabric Publishing will be representing Ali & Air Recordings material – we'll be adding new tracks to the site shortly but in the meantime you can check out some of the Air releases from the last couple of years on our Music page.

Claude VonStroke - April 2007

Hero Claude VonStroke

The April issue of UK Dance Bible Mixmag includes a 4 page spread on Fabric Publishing artist Claude VonStroke, accompanied by a particularly memorable photoshoot...

Claude and his label DirtyBird had a fantastic 2006, with their tracks being hammered by everyone from Diplo to Richie Hawtin. 2007 promises to be an even bigger year for the boys from San Fran with a sister label to DirtyBird on it's way and a follow up to last years acclaimed 'Beware of the Bird' tentatively penciled in for later in the year. In the meantime next month's Mixmag will come attached to the first official Claude VonStroke Mix CD – expect an hour of the trademark DirtyBird bounce along with a few suprises and maybe even a preview of new material.

Buraka Som Sistema - February 2007

Hero Buraka

One of our aims for Fabric Publishing has always been to promote and support as wide a range of new music as possible, and in keeping with that we're very pleased indeed to announce Portugal's Buraka Som Sistema as our latest signing. The Buraka sound is rooted in Kuduro (an Angolan dance music that combines traditional Kizomba music with modern electronics) but the influence of contemporary electro, hip hop and techno is clearly audible – the group themselves describe it simply as 'the sound of Lisbon', a European city with a substantial Angolan population.

After releasing their debut EP 'From Buraka To The World' last summer, a rapidly growing profile has led to DJ support from names including Diplo, Switch, Tayo and Sinden, with 'Com Respieto' having already appeared on Tayo's FABRICLIVE Mix CD. The full Buraka Som Sistema experience (complete with Kuduro dancers!) will be making their debut UK appearance at Fabric in the beginning of May, but in the meantime all 8 tracks from 'Buraka To The World' are up in our Audio section for you to check out.

Justin Martin - January 2007

Hero Justinmartin

Justin (no relation to Gary) came to our attention via his seminal "Sad Piano" 12" on Ben Watt's Buzzin' Fly label and through his more recent work on Claude VonStroke's Dirtybird label. The last few months have been particularly busy for Justin, with the killer combination of The Martin Brothers EP (recorded with older brother Christian) on Dirtybird and the latest Buzzin' Fly release, "The Fugitive".

Both releases are from the top drawer; "Stoopit" from The Martin Brothers EP received an "IDJ Top Tune" at the end of 2006 and has already made several compilation appearances. "The Fugitive" meanwhile is attracting an increasing amount of attention combining an endless supply of hooks and spacey atmospherics. Both tracks and their respective b-sides are up on our audio page now.

Happy 2007! - January 2007

A happy and prosperous new year to you all – we trust you all saw in 2007 in style. We've got an enormous amount of new developments coming up over the next 12 months, and hope to be able to make some very exciting announcements shortly...

Gary Martin - December 2006

Hero Garymartin

Our newest signing is Gary Martin, Detroit Techno stalwart and head of Teknotika Records. Gary's ceaselessly inventive take on Techno is a great addition to the Fabric Publishing catalogue – tracks like "Turkish Tavern" (featured on Rub-N-Tug's recent Fabric mix CD) and "Samedi" have had support from a huge range of major DJ's including Jeff Mills and Miss Kittin. Gary has been releasing his tracks and running Teknotika since 1993 and has a substantial back catalogue, recently added to our Audio section.

Audiofly And Rekleiner - December 2006

Hero Audiofly

We're very pleased to confirm Audiofly as our latest signings. Luca Saporito and Anthony Middleton are the DJ/Producer partnership behind some of 2006's most celebrated underground releases. Their tracks have made the play lists of names like Tiefschwarz and Damian Lazarus, all the while attracting glowing praise from both press and fellow artists; vocal supporters have included Ewan Pearson who was moved to write 'I've been playing an embarrassing amount of Audiofly music in my sets this year, and when it's all this good who can blame me?'.

Luca and Anthony's work with Stuart Geddes under the Rekleiner moniker has been equally heralded. Stuart has been pivotal to the Mulletover series of warehouse parties throughout East London whilst also finding time to pick up Time Out magazines "Best DJ" award. The guys have been working on tracks for the last 4 years but have only begun releasing their melodic yet driving electronic over the last 12 months. Tracks like "The State of Things" and "Somewhere" have proved a big hit, with "The State of Things" taking Beatport's #1 download spot last summer, and picking up a huge variety of DJ support.
